How to create your myBelmont account

To create your Belmont account,

  1. Navigate to my. belmont.edu on your browser.
  2. Then, select First Time Users.
  3. You will be asked to provide the following,
    • your Belmont ID number (BUID),
    • your date of birth, and
    • the last 4 of your social security number.
  4. After providing that information and the system recognizes you, you will be asked to provide a username and password.
  5. Next, you will be asked to set up your security question and answer. You may either select a question from the list or create your own.

The most secure way to create your question/answer is to select or create the question and then give a random answer that you will remember but that has nothing to do with the question. As this is used to reset your password or look up your username, be certain it is something you will remember.

After setting up your Belmont account, you may get a blank page when you log in.

Why?

Sometimes a new account will not be created when you first log into the system. The first thing you can try is using a different browser.

For example: If you first tried your account with Google Chrome, then try it with Firefox, Safari (Mac), or Edge (Windows). You may also try using a different device, e.g. computer vs phone, etc.

How to change your password

You can change your passwords in MyBelmont by selecting the Control Panel link in the upper right of your MyBelmont account just below the main menu bar.

Click on the Control Panel link and then select the password tool you want from the left-hand menu.

There are two different passwords in your Belmont account dashboard, your MyBelmont password and your email password. They can be the same, but they don’t have to be. The tool labelled Change password is for your Belmont account.

While the tool labelled Change email password only changes the email password. The email password only sets the password you use for accessing your email from a smart device or email client for students and adjunct faculty.

Students and adjunct faculty will always be able to access their email through MyBelmont. For full-time faculty and staff, this sets the password required to access your email account.

Should you forget your Belmont password, you may also reset your MyBelmont password by using the Forgot Password link on the login page of the Belmont student portal.

You will need to know your BUID, date of birth, the last 4 of your Social Security Number, and the answer to your security question.

How to access your campus email

Undergraduate and graduate student email accounts are created when incoming students create their myBelmont account using the First Time User link on my.belmont.edu.

Individuals are notified during the admissions process when to set up their myBelmont account. Student accounts are set up using the following format: firstname.lastname@pop.belmont.edu.

Access to student email is available without a second login once securely logged into the myBelmont portal.

Belmont uses different email systems for different users based on your role at Belmont.

Student email accounts are hosted at Gmail. Belmont accounts do not use Google’s standard authentication; the authentication is controlled via your My Belmont account.

If you cannot log into your email account, be sure that you do not have any other Google accounts open in the same browser (i.e. Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer, Safari, etc.).

These accounts would include Gmail, Google, YouTube, etc. accounts.

You can also access your email directly through your My Belmont account without needing a separate username and password. You may also go directly to the website listed by your email address, i.e. http://pop.belmont.edu/.

It will redirect you to the login page and back to your email account without logging into the MyBelmont login portal.
