The Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) is on a semester system made up of Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. Each semester consists of fifteen (15) weeks of academic activities.

At MTSU, a minimum of 12 hours per semester is required to remain a full-time student. The maximum enrollment is 18 hours per semester.

A reasonable class load is between 15 and 18 hours, but strong consideration should be taken under advisement for travel time, job, and family commitments.

4. MTSU Fall Break 2023 is from October 14 to October 17, 2023.
5. MTSU Thanksgiving Break 2023 is from November 22 to November 25, 2023.
6. The last Day of Classes for the Fall Semester is December 6, 2023.
7. Study Day, No Classes/Exams/Mandatory Meetings on December 7, 2023.
8. Fall 2023 Final Exams, as Determined by University Approved Exam, are scheduled from December 8 to December 14, 2023.
9. The last day of Term for the Fall Semester is on December 14, 2023.
10. MTSU winter break 2023 is from December 15, 2023, to January 15, 2024.
11. Commencement, the Official Fall Graduation Date is December 16, 2023.
12. The deadline for Submission of Final Grades is December 17, 2023, at 11:59 p.m.

1. Priority Registration for Spring 2024 will take place from November 6 to November 17, 2023.
2. MTSU Spring 2024 classes start on January 16, 2024. Classes Begin for the Spring Semester on January 16, 2024 (Tuesday after MLK, Jr. Day).
3. MTSU Spring Break 2024 will be observed from March 4 to March 9, 2024.
4. The Last Day of Classes for the Spring Semester is on April 24, 2024.
5. Study Day, No Classes/Exams/Mandatory Meetings on April 25, 2024.
6. Spring 2024 Final Exams, as Determined by University Approved Exam Schedule, will be held from April 26 to May 2, 2024.
7. The last Day of Term for the Spring Semester is May 2, 2024.
8. Commencement, Official Spring Graduation Date is May 4, 2024.
9. The deadline for Submission of Final Grades is May 5, 2024, at 11:59 p.m.
