JMU Winter Session 2025

Below are other important dates on the JMU academic calendar for the winter session of 2025. Optional Session for Students and Faculty.

1. Winter session 1 (one-week) and 2 (two-week) classes meet as scheduled on Monday, January 6, 2025.
2. Winter Session 1 Final examinations are scheduled for Friday, January 10, 2025.
3. Winter session 3 (one-week) classes meet as scheduled on Monday, January 13, 2025.
4. Grades for Winter Session 1 are due on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
5. Final Examinations for Winter Session 2 and 3 are scheduled for Friday, January 17, 2025.
6. Winter Session 2 and 3 grades are due on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

JMU Schedule Spring Semester 2025

Below are other important dates on the JMU academic calendar for the Spring term of 2025.

1. Residence halls and Dining services open on Sunday, January 19, 2025.
2. The Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday falls on Monday, January 20, 2025. There will be no classes, and the University Offices will be Closed.
3. JMU Spring 2025 Classes start on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
4. February 11, 2025, Tuesday, is the last day to withdraw from the university with cancellation of tuition charges and refund. Student Assessment/Faculty Assistance is available (no classes 8 a.m.- 3:55 p.m.), while evening classes (those beginning 3:55 p.m. or later) meet as scheduled.
5. First Block courses end on Tuesday, March 11, 2025.
6. Mid-semester grades are due in the Office of the Registrar on Friday, March 14, 2025.
7. JMU Spring Break 2025 is scheduled from Monday, March 17, to Friday, March 21, 2025. Classes resume on Monday, March 24, 2025, and Second Block courses begin.
8. First Block course grades are due in the Office of the Registrar on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, according to JMU academic calendar 2024-2025.
9. Advance registration for the 2025 summer session begins for some populations on Monday, March 31, 2025.
10. Registration for the 2025 fall semester begins for some populations on Friday, April 11, 2025, and for all on Monday, April 14, 2025.
11. Wednesday, April 16, 2025, marks the last day to submit an application for a Master’s, Ed.s., or Doctoral degree if graduation requirements are to be met in December 2025. Comprehensive assessment results and scholarly documents are due to The Graduate School for May 2025 graduation candidates.
12. The last day of classes is Thursday, May 8, 2025.
13. Final examinations occur from Friday to Thursday, May 9 to 15, 2025.
14. Thursday, May 15, 2025, is the deadline for completion of coursework for May graduates. Commencement Ceremonies will follow from May 15 to 17, 2025, Thursday to Saturday.
15. Regular Semester and Second Block course grades are due in the Office of the Registrar by 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025.
