Glossary this is a resourceful page on college terms you’re not familiar with. These are terms relating to course registration, student portal, email, LMS login, etc…You will come across these terms on this blog as you browse or in your institution as a student.
Withdrawals: An academic drop occurs when you remove yourself from a course before or during your school’s drop period. There are no academic consequences for this action, but in some cases, there may be financial aid repercussions for this drop if you no longer meet aid qualifications. The course will show on your registration history as dropped but will not post on any unofficial or official transcripts and does not count as attempted credit.
An academic withdrawal from a course occurs when you remove yourself after the drop period has passed. There will be financial repercussions for this withdrawal based on the refund schedule. The academic consequences for this action include receiving a grade of “W” for the course, which will appear on any unofficial or official transcripts. A grade of “W” will not impact your GPA but does not count as completed credit toward your degree.
Add/Drop – The Add/Drop or Enrollment Change period serves an essential purpose for students. Many students make changes to their schedules during this period. It allows students to remedy schedule problems, ensure that they are in suitable classes, change their minds about a course or series of courses, or correct a situation if they realize they do not belong.
The change period is not intended as an opportunity to hunt for easy “A’s,” to seek courses for their entertainment value, or to substitute for making the careful selection of a course in the first place.
It is intended for students to have an opportunity to tweak their schedules to ensure the best and most appropriate schedule possible.
Enrollment – Enrolment refers to enrolling in a course in the university. The enrollment process is completed after a student is granted admission to a particular school. Students can then select courses to take through their school’s online student information service.
Academic Calendar – Academic calendar is a schedule of all of the events in an academic year. These events may include examination dates, spring break or reading week, and the last day of the semester. Academic calendars—and the dates included—can be presented at the semester level or as a year-long academic calendar.
Late Adds – A late add is considered when a student cannot add a course(s) by the add deadline outlined in the Academic Calendar. It is reserved for an unavoidable delay in adding a class or an administrative error in the registration process or advising. A late add can be requested by either a student or a program representative on behalf of a student.
Grade of W – The grade W stands for withdrawal and indicates that you withdrew from a class after the last day to withdraw courses without penalty. You will not receive a refund. The W is not calculated in your GPA; however, too many W’s can affect your academic standing.
Does a grade of W affect GPA?
A class (W) withdrawal is GPA-neutral: instead of a grade, you receive a W notation on your transcript, which does not affect your GPA; you also don’t earn credits for the course. Remember that there is a deadline to drop a class and receive a grade of W. This date can be found on your schedule or the academic calendar.
Commencement – is a term that is simply the word used to describe an event’s beginning. In the context of a university, the commencement ceremony is a celebration that marks the graduation ceremony of the academic establishment. The awarding of degrees and diplomas is done during the ceremony of commencement.
The term “commencement,” as used to describe the ceremony associated with graduation, was first utilized in the United States in 1850.
Convocation – A convocation is an official gathering of individuals to be part of a particular event. In the academic context, convocation is a ceremony that celebrates the accomplishments of the graduating students. Convocation features a guest speaker and an individual acknowledgment of students who have earned the degree. Additionally, doctoral students are hooded, and students who have received other awards are acknowledged.
CMU SIO – Carnegie Mellon University’s Student Information Online, CMU SIO is a secure online portal and essential resource CMU students will frequently visit and use throughout their academic career. Within SIO, students can view grades, QPA, and enrollment status, order CMU transcripts, and verifications plan course schedules, and complete course registration activities (add/drop courses, view waitlist history, etc.). Students log in using their Andrew userID (AndrewID) and password.
Lausd email – Lausd email is the name for the email service used by Los Angeles Unified School District students. It is powered by Office 365. This email is useful in accessing Schoology LAUSD and other vital resources. LAUSD students can log in with their full email address, including “…@lausd.net” (e.g., jane.smith@lausd.net).
Reading week – A week during a university’s term where no teaching takes place, generally so that students may prepare for exams, is termed reading week.
Reading week provides students with time to review, study, and prepare for finals exams. Though reading days are essential, it’s important to start reviewing for exams at least 7-10 days ahead of time to maximize your chances for success.
RRR Week – RRR Week is the week after formal class instruction and preceding the final exams at UC Berkeley. It is similar to reading week in other colleges. RRR stands for Reading, Review, and Recitation. It is intended for students to have free time to prepare for exams, work on final papers and projects, and participate in optional review sessions and meetings with instructors.
UC Catalyst – UC Catalyst is the University of Cincinnati student information system. This online resource and student portal is the entry point to your academic record, university billing, financial aid, and more.
Schedule of classes – The term “class schedule” or “schedule of classes” or “course schedule” is a list of classes students must take at a particular college or school program. Students and teachers receive these schedules at the beginning of each semester. The plan or schedule may be modified later if the student cannot attend a class or enroll in a new one.
Classes can be scheduled in the morning to ensure that you’re more productive throughout the daytime. If you are sure that you’re not likely to get up early for an eight a.m., consider making a plan for a 9 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. class. That way, you can take classes, do your homework in the morning, and be free in the evening to spend time with friends.
StuInfo – Stuinfo is a gateway to academic records, resources, and tools at Michigan State University. The Student Information System (SIS) supports students throughout their academic journey at MSU as well as the staff who assist them.
Move-In Day – Move-in day means the day college students move into their residence, usually at the beginning of every academic year. Move-in day is usually full of events, meetings, and to-dos.
Freshmen – Freshmen refers to first-year students or newcomers or students in the first year of high school, college, or university.
Sophomore – A sophomore is a student in the second year of high school (Class-10) or college. Typically a college sophomore is 19 to 20 years old. In the United States, college sophomores are advised to consider career options and get involved in volunteering or social organizations on or near campus.
Hybrid learning – Hybrid learning, also referred to as blended learning, is an approach to education that combines online educational materials with traditional in-person classroom methods. It’s not entirely virtual, nor is it fully digital. It requires the physical presence of both teacher and learner while providing the learner some control over time and pace.
Hybrid class – A hybrid class combines traditional face-to-face learning in the classroom with online learning that students complete outside of the classroom. The work that students complete online complements the information that is covered in the classroom.
SOLUS – The Queens SOLUS Student Centre is designed to provide Queens University students with the tools to manage all of their academic, financial, contact, and admission details during and after an academic career at Queen’s. SOLUS is a Gaelic word that means “knowledge and light“. It also stands for “Student On-Line University System.”
NetID – A Network ID (or NetID) is a personal, unique identifier assigned to a university student. It consists of your initials followed by one or more numbers. You use it, along with a password, to obtain access to online services, such as email, student portals, and administrative systems.
Direct – EKU Direct is the student portal or connection to campus services at Eastern Kentucky University. These services include activating your EKU email account, registering for classes, obtaining a parking permit, and much more.
Waitlists – A waitlist is a list that students can join and wait for open seats in a class. If the department turns it on and all the seats in a class have been filled, students can join the waitlist. If a student drops it, a seat opens up and is filled by a student on the list.
Q-Drop – Q-drop means withdrawing from a class, and a “Q” is placed on your transcript for that course. Q-dropping, a class, can prevent students from having an ‘F’ grade calculated into their GPA. A Q-drop request is before the Q-drop deadline, which typically occurs near the middle of the semester. However, graduate students may drop a course after the Q-drop deadline. The instructor determines whether the symbol Q or a grade of F will be recorded. There are no refunds for Q-dropped classes.
MyUCSC – MyUCSC is UC Santa Cruz’s online academic information systems portal for students, applicants, faculty, and staff. It is used by students to enroll in classes, check grades, view financial aid and billing accounts, and update their personal information. Applicants of the University of California Santa Cruz can view their admission status and to-do items. Students log in to the UCSC portal with a CruzID. Applicants use MyUCSC for tasks including but not limited to verifying receipt of admission materials, checking their admission status, stating their intent to register (SIR), and viewing their financial aid offer.
CUNYFirst – CUNYFirst is student information, registration, and administrative system for students of the City University of New York (CUNY). CUNYFirst stands for City University of New York Fully Integrated Resources and Services Tool.
The university student portal is a CUNY-wide, web-based, system used by all students from Hunter, queens college, Baruch, BMCC, Lehman College, john jay, CUNY city tech, and LaGuardia Community College to register for courses, pay bills, manage personal information, file for graduation and more.
MyCSUEB – MyCSUEB is the California State University, East Bay student’s online self-service center for enrollment transactions and personal information about your educational record. Cal State East Bay’s student portal gives students access to their personal account, student enrollment, grades, class schedule, and financial aid.
EOL – My Eagles Online, commonly called “myEOL,” or NCCU EOL is a students portal designed to help North Carolina Central University students, faculty, and staff accesses their resources.
OTE – A One-Time Exception is a Q-drop or withdrawal after the regular deadline. Every undergraduate is allowed one OTE, whether to withdraw from all classes or drop one class. An OTE drop counts as one of your six Q-drops. Once you’ve used it, you cannot use it again.
Penn In Touch – Once you have your PennKey and password, you can begin using Penn InTouch, a secure gateway to your financial, academic, and personal information. Penn InTouch is the University’s student registration and information system. Students can also use it to update addresses, view their bills, and track progress toward fulfilling degree requirements.
Penn In Touch is scheduled to be replaced by a new system called PATH in March 2022.
Unlike Penn InTouch, PATH will integrate academic planning and registration rather than having academic planning worksheets and registration as separate processes. PATH will also fix many glitches that currently frustrate students, such as overloading during registration periods.
CUIMS – CUIMS is the student portal for the students of Chandigarh University in India. CUIMS stands for Chandigarh University Information Management System. With Cuims, students will be able to see the latest announcements about their study, university news, etc. They can also see their attendance, fee status on the UIMS.
MyBGSU – MyBGSU is the student portal for the students of Bowling Green State University. Newly admitted BGSU students and new BGSU faculty and staff are provided with a BGSU account that includes access to MyBGSU, BGSU email, BGSU Canvas, OneDrive file storage, and several other University services. Access to this account will remain active as long as a student is enrolled/employed at BGSU. Upon leaving the University, the BGSU account status will be changed based on the Account Status Timeline.
PennPay – PennPay is Penn’s electronic billing and payment system. As a student, you can access PennPay with your PennKey. To enable others (such as your parents) to receive and pay your bill and view new activities daily, you must ‘invite’ them as an ‘other payer.’ From Penn InTouch, select Profile, privacy & emergency, then Paying Your Bill/PennPay.
MyMav – MyMav, the University of Texas at Arlington’s student information system, provides efficient, secure, and user-friendly access to manage virtually every aspect of a student’s college career. UT Arlington’s Student Information System is used to register, pay your bills, accept your financial aid, add/drop class, check your grades, view your degree audit, and a host of other functions.
Degree audit – A degree audit is an analytical tool that enables you and your academic advisors to assess your progress toward completing your major requirements, college general education requirements, university requirements, and (if applicable) minor requirements.
Blazernet – UAB Blazernet is the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s student information portal. UAB students can log in to register, check their grades, access UAB canvas, etc.
HuskyCT – HuskyCT is the University of Connecticut version or customized name of the Blackboard learning management system (LMS). HuskyCT stands for “Husky Course Tools”. Uconn faculty and other instructors use HuskyCT to create a website for their course and use various tools to distribute course content, communicate with students, and perform course activities.
Queens onQ – onQ is Queens University’s enterprise learning management system, built in the Brightspace Desire2learn environment. Just as any D2L platform, it can be used to deliver academic courses on the Web or to supplement face-to-face instruction.
UR Courses – UR Courses is the University of Regina’s Learning management system. UR instructors and students can interact, share resources, and access course-related activities on the platform. UR Courses is based on Moodle, an open-source application used to create and support course websites and online communities of learning.
myVCU – myVCU portal is a customizable, web-based information portal available to students, faculty, and staff at Virginia Commonwealth University. The student portal contains an assortment of services or ‘gadgets’ that make finding online services at VCU easier and faster. In addition to seeing other websites, users can also view a snapshot of specific content within the portal itself, for example, library information and Blackboard courses.
bCourses – bCourses is UC Berkeley’s official campus Learning Management System (LMS), using the open-source Canvas platform. This web-based tool provides a resource for instructors and students to enrich the teaching and learning experience. bCourses is integrated with the University of California, Berkeley’s Academic Integrity, Clickers, CalCentral, Course Capture, SuiteC, and Gradescope services.
MavMAIL – MNSU’s MavMAIL is the official communication method for Minnesota State University, Mankato. MavMAIL is part of Office 365, including software like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Teams, OneNote, OneDrive, and more.
myUTRGV – The myUTRGV campus portal service provides a one-stop gateway to all major campus services at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. It provides Single Sign-on, personalized notifications, and previews to important applications like email, Banner, etc.
Knights Email – Knights Email is the primary student email account system for all University of Central Florida students. The email system is hosted by Microsoft and powered by Office 365, but UCF maintains control of the accounts. All official university communications are sent through Knights Email. The knights’ Email system is a special version of Microsoft Outlook Live, customized specifically for UCF students. It provides UCF students with a set of free hosted communication and collaboration services.
HeelMail – HeelMail is the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill student email account portal. This is where UNC shares important updates from the Admissions office and details about students’ financial aid package including other important academic info.
myWSU – myWSU is a Washington State University applicant and student portal, where students can view their admission status, financial aid, and scholarships, register for classes, check their grades, and much more.
EagleConnect – EagleConnect is the official UNT email system for students, applicants, and alumni based on Microsoft Outlook. Student or applicant of the University of North Texas, use EagleConnect email to view important communications from the Office of the Registrar, Financial Aid, libraries, student accounting, advisors, and others. The EagleConnect email address is firstlast@my.unt.edu. It can be found by logging into the Account Management System, AMS. It is listed in the “Student E-Mail” field. Your password is the same as the one used for all UNT systems.
BuckeyeMail – BuckeyeMail is the official Ohio State University email account. BuckeyeMail also gives access to Microsoft Office 365, which Ohio State students are eligible to use for free. The Office 365 ID is the students’ full BuckeyeMail address.
ScarletMail – ScarletMail (Gmail) is the official student email account service for Rutgers Students. It can be accessed at mail.scarletmail.rutgers.edu using NetID and password. The ScarletApps suite includes the core Google hosted applications; Gmail, Docs, Calendar, Talk, Video and Sites. In addition to the core suite, Google has added dozens of additional apps to the Google Apps for Education program. ScarletApps provides a wealth of resources for communication and collaboration that can enrich the learning, instructional, and work environments of Rutgers students, faculty, and staff.
CIX email – CIX email is a CUNY-wide students’ state-of-the-art e-mail and communication suite. Through the partnership with Microsoft, everything you do online – e-mail, shared calendars, and chatting – now works together better than ever with 24/7 reliability. The convention for generating CIX email accounts is Username convention: firstname.lastname@cix.csi.cuny.edu. Provided that there are no name conflicts, your e-mail ID should remain the same. For example, if there is more than one “John Smith” on campus, one person’s ID will be “John.Smith”, the second “John.Smith2” and the third “John.Smith3′. Password convention: Csi+your EMPLID.
TopperMail – WKU’s TopperMail is the email account for students of Western Kentucky University. It features a robust email client with an integrated calendar, a number of versatile collaboration tools, and much more. WKU students are issued a TopperMail email account within 24-48 hours after their initial course registration.
iCollege – iCollege is Georgia State University’s learning management system (LMS) powered by Brightspace by D2L. The interface is simple to use, making easily browse through courses. iCollegeNow is a workshop for instructors who are new to teaching online with Georgia State University’s platform, iCollege. This course contains the basic information instructors need to get into iCollege to add content for the course and to assess their students.
UVA Collab – UVA Collab is the centrally-supported online collaboration and learning environment (CLE) at the University of Virginia based on the Sakai learning management system. The system is the University of Virginia’s central online environment for teaching, learning, collaboration, and research. UVA students and faculty use UVACollab to create and use collaboration sites and/or course sites to facilitate class members, project teams, or research groups, engaging in interactive discussions, joining virtual meetings, securely storing and sharing materials, and much more.
UM Learn – UM Learn is the University of Manitoba’s learning management system (LMS) and is used to support the delivery of face-to-face, online and blended courses. UM Learn is a solution used at Umanitoba to distribute course materials, collect assignments, deliver quizzes/surveys, and have advanced grading capabilities including rubrics and a grade book. The U of M’s learning management system is also based on D2L.
Wattle – Wattle is the Learning Management System (LMS) used at the Australian National University to provide course materials. WATTLE stands for “Web Access To Teaching & Learning Environments“. It is based on Moodle LMS as the main underpinning platform. The learning management system is augmented with other online learning facilities such as Turnitin (text-matching system), Echo360 (lecture recording system), and Voice Tools (audio recording tools).
NTU NOW – NTU’s NOW is the virtual learning environment at Nottingham Trent University, UK. NOW stands for NTU Online Workspace. It offers resources and information to support off-campus studies and enables students to organize all aspects of their academic life at NTU.
UGA’s eLC – eLC is the online learning management system for the University of Georgia. eLC stands for eLearning Commons. It is also sometimes referred to as D2L (the company responsible for eLC) or Brightspace (what D2L calls their product). You may think of eLC as a vast repository where you can store and track information related to coursework.
CCLE – UCLA’s CCLE is based upon Moodle, an open-source learning management system (LMS) used by the University of California, Los Angeles, and is administered upon multiple servers. CCLE, which stands for Common Collaboration and Learning Environment, is a campus-wide service that makes collaboration possible across schools, divisions, and departments across UCLA.
OWL – UWO’s OWL is the learning management system of the University of Western Ontario. OWL is a customized version of the free, community source, educational teaching, research, and collaboration platform called Sakai. Sakai LMS is a robust open-source learning management system created for and used by higher educational institutions around the world.
MyUMGC – MyUMGC, sometimes referred to as UMUC login is the University of Maryland Global Campus online student portal. Just like any other student portal, UMGC students can log in to access their academic info, register classes, view grades, etc.
DC Connect – DC Connect is an online learning management system used to give Durham College students access to teaching materials, provide communication and feedback, or take quizzes and submit assignments. Powered by Desire2Learn (D2L) software, DC Connect provides an online “homeroom” for classes. The Durham College learning management system provides easy access to student course material such as course outlines, lecture slides, assignments, grades, and other content shared by professors.
BYU Learning Suite – BYU Learning Suite is the Brigham Young University-built and supported Learning Management System. It offers tools like course content, communications (email, messages, and online discussions in Digital Dialog), assignments, assessments or exams, grading, schedule, and syllabus. BYU Learning Suite was first launched in Fall 2012 and provides essential functions similar to commercial or open-source systems such as Blackboard, Canvas, Moodle, etc.
eCentennial – eCentennial is an online learning portal that offers several services for Centennial College students, including access to course assignments and materials, a discussion board to communicate with classmates, and information on class standings and grades. Centennial College’s eCentennial online student service is powered by the Desire2Learn (D2L) Brightspace Learning Management System.
VeriGuide – VeriGuide CUHK is a plagiarism detection software that helps to identify suspected plagiarised works and can be used as a tool to check whether citations have been properly included in assignments. VeriGuide is used by The Chinese University of Hong Kong. It is a tool that promotes and upholds academic honesty, integrity, and quality. It supports similarity text detection in English, Traditional Chinese, and Simplified Chinese. A detailed originality report with statistics and a side-by-side comparison of text can be generated.
CUSIS – CUHK’s CUSIS is the student portal for the students of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The term CUSIS refers to the Chinese University Student Information System. CUSIS stands for “Chinese University Student Information System“. The Chinese University Student Information System provides to teachers, students, and staff a series of functions covering curriculum, enrollment, student records, financial aid, student financials, etc.
Quercus – UofT’s Quercus is the University of Toronto’s learning management system, powered by Canvas LMS. Students can access course content, view their progress in the course, and submit assignment files. Why is the U of T learning management system called Quercus? A student contest was conducted in the fall of 2017 to name the new LMS. Three students proposed the name Quercus, all citing it as the Latin word for the Oaktree genus. It also has a relation to the University of Toronto coat of arms’ oak tree and the motto “velut arbor aevo”, Latin for “as a tree through the ages”.
eConestoga – eConestoga is an online Learning Management System used at Conestoga College where you can access your course materials, assessments, and grades. It is powered by D2L Brightspace. It is the hub for all courses, including tests and lectures. This will be where Conestoga College students go to interact with their classes and instructors.
NYU Classes – NYU Classes is New York University’s learning management system. It is an online space to interact with classmates and instructors, keep track of assignments and tests, and store information based on courses. The Learning Management System is based on Sakai, an open-source software program.
UNG Email – UNG email is an official means of communication on the University of North Georgia campus. UNG has partnered with Microsoft to bring you email and the rest of the O365 suite. The O365 suite offers web applications for Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, and Access. Students have a personal storage capacity of 1 TB via your OneDrive account.
LaTrobe LMS – LaTrobe LMS is the Learning Management System used by La Trobe University built on Moodle LMS. This system may be referred to as the ‘LMS’ or as ‘Moodle’ – it is the same system. La Trobe University’s online learning environment allows students to locate learning materials and activities related to their studies from any location with internet access, just like any Moodle site.
My Eagle – HCC My Eagle also referred to as HCC login is a portal where current Houston Community College students, faculty, and staff can access Student System, Course Catalog, Class Search, Campus Map, News, Library to Go, Calendar & Events, Learning Web, and Student Life. HCC My Eagle is an Oracle platform.
GauchoSpace – GauchoSpace is the learning management system for the University of California, Santa Barbara, UCSB courses and projects, allowing instructors to create online sites for course materials and student activities. GauchoSpace is built using Moodle, an open-source learning platform. Gaucho is the nickname for UC Santa Barbara. It features tools that allow you to upload your syllabus, course assignments, or readings; manage a grade book that calculates and displays grades for students; and create quizzes or lessons that provide instant feedback for students.
GauchoSpace simplifies the process of communicating with students through various communication tools, such as Peachmail and the Instructor Announcements forum, as well as other class activity forums. Students can access course sites from the current and one previous quarter (unless the instructor has made a recent course unavailable to students or an older course site available again).
Tufts sis – Tufts sis is the Student Information System (SIS) of record for Tufts students’ academic, biographical, and financial information at Tufts University. Tufts sis portal gives administrative support for offices and functions that rely on student information. It provides students with course registration, Tufts Canvas, course catalogs and schedules, financial aid information, grades and transcripts, and more.
MyCSULB – MyCSULB is an online student portal for California State University Long Beach students. The CSULB Student Center is organized into sections based on the type of information. The Center displays summary information such as your class schedule, outstanding balance, and contact information.
Banner Web – UNG’s Banner Web is an enterprise reporting system for the University of North Georgia. Banner records and maintains information and data for students, employees, faculty, and alumni. Banner is an integrated system containing information about all affiliates with UNG. For students, this includes admissions, financial aid, registration, billing, and academic records. myUNG is where students connect to almost all online resources. A link to myUNG is located at the top right of the UNG site under Quicklinks, or you can go directly to my.ung.edu.
SFU Mail – SFU mail is the emailing system at SFU for all Simon Fraser University students. The Outlook Web App (OWA) is the web application used to access SFU Mail. OWA requires no setup and can be accessed anywhere on any device that has access to an internet browser.
MyUT – MyUT, the online student portal of The University of Texas at Austin, is a central location where you can view your class schedule, see personalized financial aid and registration information, and more — and it now features an updated look and feels. The MyUT website and the MyUT mobile app have the resources you need to start your semester off on the right foot.
UMass SPIRE – UMass SPIRE is the University of Massachusetts Amherst’s student information system. It allows students to register for classes, manage housing assignments, university finances, and more. The SPIRE login page also includes links to other UMass Amherst tools and services (including email, moodle, blackboard, peoplefinder, and the go.umass web app) at the top right of the page.
UT Direct – UT Direct is a customizable University of Texas portal that provides personalized information based on your EID. UT Direct provides information about your classes, college, job, or University in general.
What I Owe – What I Owe allows the University of Texas at Austin students, faculty, and staff to make payments over the Web by credit card, electronic funds transfer (EFT), or electronic check (eCheck) for charges owed to the University.
OneStop – APSU’s OneStop is the student information portal for Austin Peay State University students. It gives APSU students complete access to Financial Aid, Course Registration, and Readiness checklist.
ASURITE – An Arizona State University Rational Information Technology Environment (ASURITE) is the primary login for ASU computing services. Every person at ASU is assigned an ASURITE UserID. This UserID is unique and yours to use as long as you are associated with the university and follow the appropriate policies and guidelines. The ASURITE UserID is used to access various services at ASU, including my ASU. New student applicants, for example, may have access to certain Web pages to check the status of their application or register online once they have been admitted. Enrolled students will be able to add other computing services as needed to their UserID.
myUCF – The myUCF portal is an online student portal for all personal records, academic history, Knights email, UCF academic calendar, and financial aid information at the University of Central Florida. It is accessed with a NID and NID password.
Acorn – U of T’s ACORN is the Student Information System of the University of Toronto. ACORN stands for Accessible Campus Online Resources Network. It is a web-based tool that stores all U of T students’ records – academic, personal, and financial. UofT’s Acorn was released to students on June 22, 2015.
UVA SIS – UVA SIS is the student information system of record for all University of Virginia student-related information, including class enrollment, teaching and exam schedules, unofficial transcripts and grades, and student finance.
VandalMail – Vandalmail is the name of the University of Idaho student email account. A VandalMail email account is assigned upon registration. All University of Idaho students are required to activate and use their VandalMail email account for ISI course-related correspondence or set up email forwarding from VandalMail to another email.
ISIS – ANU ISIS is the Australian National University system that allows students to enroll in courses, view invoices, check grades, confirm graduation eligibility, pay fees, submit commonwealth assistance forms (CAF), maintain personal information. ISIS stands for Interactive Student Information System.
MyMMU – MyMMU is the home of all the online tools provided by Manchester Met for students to enjoy a successful studying experience. The portal is available online and in the MyMMU app. MyMMU mobile, a pioneering application that allows students to access comprehensive information about Manchester Metropolitan University. Manchester Metropolitan University is one of the first of a group of leading universities in the UK to roll out this application to its students enabling them to stay informed with the ease and convenience that mobility brings.
UWinsite Student – UWinsite is the University of Windsor’s student information platform. It replaced the Student Information System which was commonly known on campus as SIS, Forte, or myUWindsor.ca. UWinsite Student is built on Campus Solutions, an Oracle PeopleSoft product used at post-secondary institutions across North America and beyond. UWinsite went live in 2018 after the University of Windsor undertook a multi-year journey to modernize its business processes and replace several core systems with an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. It includes modules for student records, admissions, academic advising, convocation, student financials, and financial aid.
UC Merced Portal – UC Merced Portal is the student portal for students of the University of California – Merced. The Connect Platform is an important resource that students use throughout their time at UC Merced. In the UC Merced portal, students will find updated, secure, 24-hour access to comprehensive information about Financial Aid, Admissions, registration, records, and more. Students can also check on their admission status, learn about campus events and update the Office of Admissions about any changes to their academic record.
SOLAR – SOLAR Stony Brook is the University’s enterprise-wide, self-service system which provides faculty, staff, and students with online access to manage personal information. SOLAR stands for Student On-Line Access to Records. Students use Stony Brook University’s SOLAR to register for classes, print schedules, view, and pay bills, update personal contact information, view transcripts, and submit student employment timesheets.
TAMU Howdy – TAMU’s Howdy Portal is a comprehensive web portal connecting students, applicants, faculty, staff, parents, and former students to their web-based services at Texas A&M University. With just one login to Howdy at howdy.tamu.edu, TAMU students can access their university records and other applications.
Alamo ACES – Alamo ACES portal is a secure portal that provides students, staff, and faculty with access to various applications using a single sign-on. ACES stands for Alamo Colleges Educational Services. As an ACES user, you will have access to register for classes, financial aid information, email, library resources, and online courses.
DeakinSync – DeakinSync is your online student login portal that gives you access to everything you need at Deakin University. Deakin college portal is personalized to meet students’ needs throughout their life Deakin University. Students can access CloudDeakin and StudentConnect via DeakinSync, as well as their email, calendar, Office365, and other productivity and collaboration tools.
MyHumber – MyHumber is the student online portal for Humber College students to access academic records, register for classes, add and drop courses, and more. Students can also access Humber Blackboard with their myHumber account.
Pathway – UMKC’s Pathway is the main tool students at the University of Missouri-Kansas City use to register for classes, view grades, and update contact information, among other functions.
myUFV – myUFV is a student portal where UFV students can access the University of the Fraser Valley Portal student web services such as Registration, Class grades, UFV Student email, Blackboard (myClass), Campus announcements, online courses.
AidLink – SDSU’s Aidlink is a secure online system that gives San Diego State University students 24-hour access to their financial aid records and SDSU scholarship application(s). SDSU students use it to check their email, apply for financial aid, etc.
Curtin OASIS – Curtin’s OASIS is a secure web portal provided to all Curtin University students. OASIS stands for Online Access to Student Information Services.
My ASU – My ASU is the student portal for the students of Arizona State University. It has everything ASU students need as an incoming Sun Devil, all in one convenient place. Students log in with their ASURITE ID and password. New ASU students can find the next steps and to-do items for enrollment, financial and account information, registration holds, ASU email, software, university announcements, and more. ASU students can also find quick links to the ASU academic calendar, libraries, career services, tutoring, and tech support.
Raiderlink – Raiderlink is an online campus student portal to link TTU students to the resources they need at Texas Tech University. TTU Raiderlink portal provides access to Registrar resources such as class registration and grading, TechMail, announcements, leave status, Transportation & Parking Services, and much more.
My Sac State – My Sac State is a secure student portal to manage Sacramento State University account and to access the technology services available through the university, including the @csus.edu email. The Student Center (mycsus) Offers course registration, links to Canvas, Smart Planner, and the KEYS to Degree Toolbox, official grades, financial aid information, unofficial transcripts, tuition/fee payment, and more.
NYU Albert – NYU Albert is a portal to the student information system at New York University. There is also a mobile version of Albert NYU. Students and advisors use Albert to register for courses, check prerequisites, grades, financial aid status, and more.
ASAP – UTSA’s ASAP is the student portal that allows access to most student information and academic records at UTSA. ASAP stands for Automated Student Access Program and is pronounced as “a-sap“. It is the student portal for the students of the University of Texas at San Antonio.
myOKSTATE – myOKSTATE at Oklahoma State University is an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system that integrates and consolidates the university administrative resources. With only one place to sign in, students can register for classes, review academic records, and engage with financial aid. Employees can get their employment information, manage timesheets and leave requests. The myOKSTATE Banner portal contains handy links to Canvas, Parking and Transit office, email, the Star System (for advisement), and others.
Omnivox – Omnivox is an online portal service. This management tool helps students and teachers to have better communication and share documentation. It also provides many online services to students and teachers. Omnivox is also used by most institutions in Quebec, Canada…Dawson College, Vanier College, Matrix College, Maisonneuve College, Ahuntsic College, garneau College, Edouard College, etc.
myWalden – myWalden or Walden student portal is the student information portal of Walden University. It is located at my.waldenu.edu, and you will need to log in using your Walden email address.
CalCentral – Calcentral is an online portal that is used by UC Berkeley students to enroll in classes, pay bills, and claim financial aid. It brings together student data into a personalized, mobile-friendly dashboard and digital assistant, drawing from dozens of campus sources. Students, instructors, and staff can check their campus email, UC Berkeley calendar, bCourses, Course Capture, and more from directly within CalCentral.
myUSF – myUSF is the student portal name for the University of South Florida (USF) and the University of San Francisco, California (USFCA). myUSF gives access to the university network, email, Canvas, and other services. Students use their accounts to make their enrollment deposits, register for classes, apply for housing, and more. Students, faculty, and staff can access CANVAS, GEMS, FAST, OASIS all in one place. My USF provides virtual workspaces for departments and individual workgroups to share and collaborate on various projects.
Wolverine Access – Wolverine Access is a quick, convenient way for current and prospective University of Michigan students to access password-protected personal university information, including financial aid documents, notices, and student account statements. University of Michigan students can access the portal with their Uniqname and password.
LionPATH – PSU’s LionPATH is Penn State University’s student information system. Penn State students use Lionpath to accept financial aid, enroll in classes, pay bills, access transcripts, and much more.
DuckWeb – DuckWeb is the University of Oregon’s interactive information system for students, faculty, and staff. The student portal allows current students to view and update personal data, register for classes, and accept financial aid awards. Depending on when you applied for admission, you will be given access to DuckWeb prior to beginning classes at the UO. When you applied for admission to the UO, the Office of Admissions sent you a letter or email with your UO ID (a number in this format: 95XXXXXXX) and Personal Access Code (PAC). Use your ID and PAC to access DuckWeb.
NOVAConnect – NOVAConnect is Virginia Community College System’s Student Information Systems (SIS) central source for accessing all essential student information. NOVAConnect also allows students to handle various tasks from searching for classes, registration, online applications, dropping/swapping courses, making payments, and managing their personal information through the Student Center. To access NOVAConnect, the Student Information System (SIS), click on myNOVA > Log In > click on VCCS SIS: Student Information System > click on Student Center.
myUHD – myUHD is the student portal used by the University of Houston-Downtown students. UHD students use myUHD 2.0 to access their student information including registering for classes, view Financial Aid, making payments, and more. UHD students log in with their UHD gatormail (example: gatore9@gator.uhd.edu). This usually consists of your last name, first initial, and number.
UCSB GOLD – UCSB GOLD is a student online registration account or an enrollment system used at UC Santa Barbara to enroll in classes, check important enrollment information, deadlines, and search for classes. GOLD stands for “Gaucho On-Line Data”. To use GOLD (Gaucho On-Line Data System) UCSB students must activate their U-Mail account and UCSBnetID.
myBoiseState – myBoiseState is the student portal for the students of Boise State University. Active Boise State University students can sign in to view registered classes, grades, broncoMail, Blackboard assignments, Canvas, BroncoPrint balance, Bronco Card meal plan and flex dollar information, and other personalized information.
MyNova – The MyNova portal allows NOVA students to access many of Virginia Community College System (VCCS) applications such as email, Novaconnect, Blackboard, Canvas, and much more without having to log into those applications separately. The emplid is a unique number that identifies each student in the Student Information System (SIS). It may also be referred to as a student ID number.
myBelmont – myBelmont is a student portal for the students, faculty, and staff at Belmont University (Nashville, TN). It offers secure access to essential Belmont information, including Course Lookup, Class Schedule, Account Status, and Summary, Address Update, Leave Balance, Final Grades Blackboard, and Bruinlink.
University of Phoenix login – University of Phoenix login is the student portal for University of Phoenix students. It provides access to interactive examinable academic content (past questions, podcast, video, ebooks, games & VR). eCampus gives you access to the University of Phoenix Login. It is an online teaching and learning platform with social networking options that allow students to interact and compare test scores.
mySnhu – mySnhu student login portal is the Southern New Hampshire University student portal. mySnhu gives SNHU students access to important resources such as Brightspace (SNHU’s virtual environment), bookstore, snhu email, official and unofficial transcripts, online courses, etc.
HKUL – HKU Library, also known as HKUL is an essential part of the educational facilities provided by the University of Hong Kong. The Libraries advances the teaching and learning, research, and knowledge exchange pursuits of the University through its outstanding resources, people-centered services as well as innovative and collaborative approaches.
The University of Hong Kong Library is a central resource for research and knowledge discovery. The Libraries consist of the Main Library and six branch libraries, namely the Dental Library, Fung Ping Shan Library, Lui Che Woo Law Library, Music Library, Tin Ka Ping Education Library, and the Yu Chun Keung Medical Library. Of scholarly interest are Special Collections which houses a unique collection of Hong Kong materials, rare books, pamphlets, and microforms.
SNHUconnect – SNHUconnect is a private, online, peer-to-peer community that serves Southern New Hampshire University, online students. Think of it as an online campus. A place where students can meet all of their fellow online students outside of the classroom. Find others studying the same subject or maybe living in the same area. Students can join online clubs, honor societies, learn about New Hampshire College and University events, and more.
JHU SIS – JHU SIS (Student Information Services) Self-Service is used by the Arts & Sciences and Engineering undergraduate and graduate students of Johns Hopkins University for viewing and conducting transactions for registration, financial, and billing.
My Cal Poly Portal – My Cal Poly Portal connects California Polytechnic State University students, staff, and faculty to campus apps and information. The student Portal requires a Cal Poly username and password for access. It is powered by Atlassian. Logged in students can find quick links to campus apps like PolyLearn and Canvas, manage their personal information, access email & calendar, and receive important campus notifications.
CNU Scholar – CNU Scholar is Christopher Newport University’s fully-supported learning management system (LMS). Scholar is based on Blackboard Learning Management System. Course materials are available 24/7, from any location, allowing students to learn when and where they like. CNU Students can access course materials at any time and from any computer with an Internet connection. Instructors can post documents, make announcements, send e-mail, create online assessments, and more. Students can access course documents, send files to their instructor, and access grades directly.
UBLearns – UBLearns, powered by Blackboard Learning Management System, is the centrally supported Learning Management System (LMS) at University at Buffalo. UBLearns provides faculty with an online environment to create, deliver, and manage their course content and monitor participation and assess performance among learners. UB students access their online and hybrid courses, including syllabi, assignments, and course modules, through UBlearns. They are also required to use the discussion boards in Blackboard to communicate with their classmates and professors, send an email within the course, post assignments, and provide feedback to other students.
Drexel Learn – Drexel Learn is Drexel university’s fully-supported learning management system (LMS) built on Blackboard LMS. It is managed by Drexel University Information Technology and is fully integrated with the DrexelOne portal and the Banner Student Information System (SIS). All course sections are created in Drexel Learn each term and are freely available for faculty to activate and use. Enrollment data is automatically fed in, making this an easy-to-use solution for faculty to engage their students.
TuPortal – TuPortal is a single sign-on customized gateway for accessing Temple University’s major systems and managing your university information on record. Students can access the Canvas Learning Management Systems from TUportal. Access to Canvas is available to Student as defined in the University System Access Roles Definitions. An AccessNet username and password enable you to log in to Temple technology systems and resources.
RIT SIS – RIT SIS is a self-service student portal where Rochester Institute of Technology students manage their university-related activities. The Rochester Institute of Technology Student Information System (SIS) is where students complete all enrollment and registration-related tasks – including RIT academic calendar schedule, search for classes, maintain updated contact information, request transcripts, etc.
myJHU – myJHU portal allows Johns Hopkins University students access to email and general university-wide services. This is your access point to hundreds of Johns Hopkins web applications and key information about your Johns Hopkins community.
MyDCE is a Harvard Extension School student portal that provides personalized access to the student account in a modern and mobile-first design. The student portal was launched by the Division of Continuing Education (DCE) at Harvard Extension School. Through MyDCE student portal, students also have easy access to Harvard’s retiring Online Services system as they work to migrate all features to the new portal.
JHED – JHED is an online, comprehensive source of contact information for Johns Hopkins University students that grants access to resources like the myJHU portal, JHU SIS, and JHU email. JHED stands for Johns Hopkins Enterprise Directory. JHED Login ID (which is also referred to as JHED ID or JHED LID) is the username that to use to log into the JHED system. New students should have received an email containing their JHED ID.
myUNSW – myUNSW is the single online access point for the University of New South Wales services, integrating online services for applicants, commencing & current students, and UNSW staff. UNSW online portal gives you access to view your fee statement, class timetable, exam timetable, results, and academic statement, update your details and apply for Program Leave, Deferral, or Discontinuation.
MyMDC – MyMDC Account is the online access to email, financial aid, scholarship awards, grades, and other important information specific to an MDC student’s academic career at Miami Dade College. My MDC account is the username and password used to authenticate identity when using all of the web services on the MDC website.
CSUF Portal – CSUF Portal is California State University, Fullerton student portal. With the portal, students can access TITANium (Moodle) or Canvas from My Courses and other vital academic features.
MyUFL – MyUFL is the university of Florida’s portal to a variety of online services and enterprise-wide applications. A GatorLink account is used to access campus systems, including myUFL, One UF, UF wireless, UF Canvas, and many more. Every current Student must have a GatorLink username and password.
MyIvy – MyIvy is Ivy Tech Community College’s online student portal. Students use My Ivy to get the latest news and announcements, check e-mail, register for classes, pay tuition, manage financial aid, and much more. My Ivy also contains Quick Links to the websites you use most often, such as Blackboard, Ivy Learn, and the Online Bookstore, as well as links to helpful resources such as FAQs, the student message board, and the Technical Helpdesk.
SDSU WebPortal – The SDSU WebPortal serves admission, enrollment, and registration needs across campus. Students check admission status, do class schedule and registration, request transcripts. Faculty can also perform Grade submission, class rosters, add/drop management, course evaluation results, etc.
HKU Portal – HKU Portal provides a user-friendly and easy-to-access single sign-on interface for students of the University of Hong Kong to access all the centrally provided IT services. These include services offered under the Student Information System (SIS), Human Capital Management System (HCMS), electronic mail, learning management system, web-based administrative applications, and HKUL through a high-speed campus network.
MyUCLA – MyUCLA is a modern and integrated student services portal at the University of California, Los Angeles. It is a landmark accomplishment for the campus and finally provides UCLA students with a much desired integrated web experience.
WebReg – WebReg UCSD is a web-based application used by University of California San Diego students to register for classes. Access to WebReg is limited to currently enrolled students and only during specific enrollment windows. Students can use UCSD WebReg to load courses into their planner, register for classes, drop classes, view their schedule and appointment time, and find books and textbooks to buy or rent for registered courses.
GCU Student Portal – The GCU Student Portal is an intuitive, visually engaging, and fully customizable hub for everything a GCU student needs to be successful. This innovative portal of Grand Canyon University is mobile-friendly, and students can log in and access it from anywhere.
HokieSPA – HokieSPA is Virginia Tech’s student portal. Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University students use HokieSPA to update their contact information and view their academic records, including requesting transcripts.
You’ll need a VT Username (a unique identifier) and passphrase to grant you access to HokieSPA, Canvas, OneCampus, Office365, Google Suite, and more.
UAccess – UAccess is a password-protected student portal that allows University of Arizona students to access personal and academic information and transact university business online.
A UA NetID and password are required for login. UAccess enables students to view and change their academic and personal information.
Corsair Connect – Corsair Connect is an online student self-service system where Santa Monica College students can access their class schedule, SMC student email, add and drop classes, pay your fees, apply for financial aid, view your student records, and keep up to date with course dates and deadlines.
What does the word “Corsair” mean?
The name of the SMC athletic team is “The Corsairs.” The word means “pirate” or “privateer.” Specifically, a historical “Corsair” was a Barbary Coast pirate or French privateer from about the 1400s to the 1600s.
Testudo – Testudo is a portal that allows the University of Maryland (UMD) students to register for classes, access unofficial transcripts, check grades, apply for graduation, and do many other tasks. It also provides limited access for alumni and parents.
The interactive web portal allows current students to complete their course registration and academic record transactions.
Services available on Testudo include Registration (Add/drop courses), Degree Audit (uAchieve), Graduation Application & Diploma Status, Transcript/Enrollment Certification request, Unofficial Transcript, Waitlist Check-In.
LancerPoint – LancerPoint is Pasadena City College’s student portal. It’s where PCC students go to register for classes, find out about their financial aid award, and access official PCC email, and many more.
GoCSN – GoCSN is a single sign-on application that allows College of Southern Nevada students to access their CSN and personal applications (like MyCSN) from one site and one login.
The “MyCSN” student portal is a “one-stop” gateway for accessing many college applications and tools.
myLonestar – myLonestar, also known as iStar, is the student login portal for Lone Star College. It is used to access Lonestar email, academic profiles, change your degree, check courses, enroll in classes, upload immunization records, access D2L, and other vital educational resources.
My slice – Syracuse University’s My slice is the official service portal for academic, financial, employment, and administrative matters at Syracuse University. Students can register for classes, view grades, pay Bursar bills, select housing, and meal plans, and more.
Students also log in to access their SUMail, MySlice, Blackboard, SUShare, and more or access the school’s intranet.
GoldLink – ETSU GoldLink is East Tennessee State University’s Portal giving students, employees, and faculty 24/7 access to their accounts and records. Undergraduate and Graduate applicants can also check the status of applications.
Students can look up and register for courses, pay fees, check financial aid status, check grades, and maintain certain contact information.
S.A.I.L – TAMUCC SAIL is a secure student portal where you can access your student, academic, and financial aid records at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
By logging into S.A.I.L., students gain online access to Maintain their contact information, Register for classes, accept financial aid awards, view unofficial transcripts, grades, and class schedules, Request transcripts electronically, pay tuition, and more.
KeanWise – KeanWise is Kean University’s information portal for students to access their grades, schedules, financial aid information, and every other essential for their experience at the university.
Every student at Kean will have to utilize KeanWise at some point in their journey. It is an essential platform consisting of everything from students’ grades to their schedules and financial aid.
NYUHome – NYUHome is New York University’s leading web portal. Once authenticated with NYU NetID and password, the site provides students access to various academic, work, and university life services.
NYUHome also provides the ability for students to search and browse the profiles of people in the NYU Community and manage their profile and their visibility to others.
Each service card in NYUHome provides access to a service. Some are Activity Feed cards: dynamic displays of information (for example, NYU Calendar, BrightSpace, NYU Classes, NYU Drive, NYU Albert, and NYU Email), while others are static gateways to services (for example, NYU Groups, Lynda.com, Web Publishing).
Bobcat Mail – Texas State Email, known as Bobcat Mail, is the official email service used at Texas State University. As part of Microsoft 365, BobcatMail integrates with many other Microsoft 365 apps. TXST Email is available on mobile devices, where you need it when you need it.
Your Texas State email address is in the format: yourNetID@txstate.edu (e.g., zzz99@txstate.edu).
TERPmail – TERPmail is an email scheduling and collaboration environment available for undergraduate students at the University of Maryland. It is built on Google Apps and is the de-facto system for student email communication.
TERPmail replaced Mirapoint email in October 2011. All employees and graduate students at the University of Maryland (UMD) get a UMD Gmail account (also known as @umd.edu).
GryphMail – GryphMail is the University of Guelph’s official email address, contacts, tasks, and calendar system. All faculty, staff, and students are given a Gryph Mail email address.
The Microsoft Office 365 email system provides UofG users with greater storage capacity, more straightforward mobile compatibility, better security, and improved collaboration, among other benefits.
LoboMail – LoboMail is a feature-rich email and calendaring system based on Microsoft Exchange Online in Office 365. It is available to all students, staff, and faculty at the University of New Mexico.
Every UNM user is provided with an email account when they start as a student, staff, or faculty.
Buff Portal – Buff Portal is CU Boulder’s online student portal. It replaced the student tab in MyCUInfo on December 30, 2019. Buff Portal was developed by the Unified Student Experience (USE) project using an Angular application that uses RESTful APIs.
The Unified Student Experience (USE) is a campus-wide project at the University of Colorado Boulder that aims to unify the online and in-person CU Boulder student experience. It aims to transform today’s fragmented digital and physical student support landscape by creating a seamless student experience.
MyLO – UTAS MyLO is the online learning environment at the University of Tasmania. MyLO stands for My Learning Online, and it is a BrightSpace D2L platform.
For all units with an online presence, UTAS MyLO is the system used to host the Unit’s online materials and activities. How MyLO is used depends upon the requirements and approaches of the Unit and its teaching staff.
myCourses – myCourses is McGill University’s learning management system for online teaching and learning and is used in many courses per term by thousands of students. It is a BrightSpace D2L LMS platform.
Most instructors use myCourses in a hybrid or blended fashion, i.e., enhancing classroom-based instruction. myCourses brings instructors and students together and can create a highly interactive learning environment.
VIULearn – VIULearn is VIU’s Learning Management System. Students can find online content for courses at VIU that are using the online system. Not all courses will use VIULearn, so students should always check with their instructor if they don’t see one of their courses available on VIULearn My Home page.
WGU student portal – WGU student portal is the Western Governors University student portal. With the portal, students can access their account info, courses, and other vital academic features.
