MyUTK: Helpful Guide to Access UTK Login Portal 2024.

MyUTK is an online portal for students, faculty, and staff of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

It provides access to a variety of online services, including email, course registration, grades, and financial aid information. 

Through MyUTK, students can also manage their class schedules, request transcripts, and access academic resources such as the university library’s online databases. 

Faculty and staff can use the portal to view their employment information, access human resources services, and submit grades.

How to log into myUTK

To log into MyUTK, please follow these steps:

  1. Open a web browser and go to the MyUTK login page: myutk.utk.edu.
  2. Enter your NetID in the first field. Your NetID is the unique identifier assigned to you by the University of Tennessee. If you do not know your NetID, you can look it up using the “Lookup NetID” link on the login page.
  3. Enter your password in the second field. If you are logging in for the first time, your password is your date of birth in the format of MMDDYY. For example, if your birthday is January 1, 2000, your password would be 010100.
  4. Click the “Login” button to access your MyUTK account.

If you have any problems logging into MyUTK or if you have forgotten your password, you can use the “Forgot Password” link on the login page to reset your password or contact the Office of Information Technology (OIT) HelpDesk for assistance.

UTK NetID

UTK NetID is the unique identifier assigned to students, faculty, and staff of the University of Tennessee,  Knoxville. It is a combination of letters and numbers that are used to access various university systems and services, including email, Volcard, MyUTK portal, UTK Canvas learning management system, and more. 

Students admitted to the University of Tennessee are assigned a Network ID (NetID). Your NetID is the username associated with your accounts for the University of Tennessee, and it is the first part of your University email address, NetID@vols.utk.edu.

Each user’s NetID is associated with their personal information and account information, such as their email address, course schedules, and financial aid information. 

The NetID system is designed to protect the security and privacy of users’ personal information and to provide secure access to university resources. 

Users are encouraged to keep their NetID and password confidential and to use strong passwords to protect their accounts from unauthorized access.

You must wait one business day after the NetID appears in the portal to set a password for the first time. The NetID passwords expire every 180 days. You will receive several email reminders as the deadline approaches. 

How to set up your UTK NetID password

To set up your UTK NetID password, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the UTK NetID Password Management page: https://ds.tennessee.edu/passwords.
  2. Click on “First-Time Password Setup” button.
  3. Enter your NetID and then click the “Next” button.
  4. Select an option to verify your identity. You can either verify via text message or answering your security questions. Click the “Next” button.
  5. Follow the prompts to verify your identity or answer your security questions.
  6. Enter your new password twice in the appropriate fields. Your new password must be at least eight characters long and contain at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, one number, and one special character.
  7. Click the “Change Password” button to save your new password.

Note: If you encounter any problems during the NetID password setup process, you can contact the Office of Information Technology (OIT) HelpDesk for assistance.

How to change or reset your password

To change or reset your UTK NetID password, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to the UTK NetID Password Management page: tennessee.edu/passwords.
  2. Click on “Change/Reset Password” button.
  3. Enter your NetID and then click the “Next” button.
  4. Select an option to verify your identity. You can either verify via text message or answering your security questions. Click the “Next” button.

How to look up your UTK NetID

To look up your UTK NetID, please follow these steps:

For undergraduate students:

  1. Log in to the VIP website.
  2. Your NetID will be assigned and available once Admissions has updated your record.
  3. If you have trouble logging in, please contact One Stop for assistance.

Note: It may take a few days for your NetID to appear in the VIP portal once you’ve been admitted.

For graduate students:

  1. Log in to the Graduate Admissions Portal.
  2. Click on “View Update.”
  3. If your NetID has been assigned, it will appear at the top of the letter from the Dean of the Graduate School under your Student ID #.
  4. If your Student ID # and NetID do not appear, check back the next day.
  5. It may take several days for your NetID to appear in the portal.

Note: If you have trouble logging in to the Graduate Admissions portal, contact Graduate Admissions for assistance. Students accepted into the College of Law and College of Veterinary Medicine will need to contact their respective admissions offices for this information.

UTK Volcard

A VolCard account is a debit account to be used on campus and at participating off-campus merchants. It can be used in dining facilities, campus vending machines, VolShop, VolTech, VolPrint, convenience stores on campus, Off-Campus Merchants, and for Service Station privileges.

How to add money to your VolCard account

There are six ways to make deposits to your VolCard account.

  1. You may go to the VolCard Office where your deposit can be made by cash, check, or credit card.
  2. Online by clicking https://webapps.utk.edu/Volcard/Webdeposits/.
  3. You may also make cash deposits in Value Port machines located around campus. Value Port locations are: Ag Library, Ayres Hall, Hodges Library, and VolCard Office.
  4. By mail.
  5. Transferring excess financial aid via MyUTK. You may transfer excess financial aid (maximum of $1,000.00) each semester to your VolCard account by designating an amount on MyUTK.
  6. Transfer unused Flex Plan funds to your VolCard account (end of semester).

Volmail

Volmail is the email system used by the University of Tennessee, Knoxville for all official university correspondence. All students, faculty, and staff at UT Knoxville have access to Volmail, which is powered by Microsoft Office 365.

How to log into UTK Volmail

To access your Volmail account, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the UT Knoxville website (utk.edu).
  2. Click on the “Email” link located at the top right corner of the homepage.
  3. Log in using your NetID and password.

Once you are logged in, you can access your Volmail inbox, compose and send emails, and manage your email settings.

It is important to regularly check your Volmail account, as it is the primary method of communication for official university announcements, alerts, and other important information.
