NCSU Academic Calendar Fall 2024

Below are important dates and deadlines on the NCSU academic calendar for Fall 2024.

1. NCSU move in fall 2024 is from Thursday, August 15, 2024, to Saturday August 17, 2024, from 8:00AM – 5:00PM by appointment at the check-in location for your assigned residence hall or apartment. Check out: NCSU My Pack Portal.
2. NCSU Classes for the Fall 2024 semester start on Monday, August 19, 2024.
3. The deadline to add a course without permission is Friday, August 23, 2024.
4. The Census Date/Official Enrollment Date falls on Friday, August 30, 2024.
5. Labor Day is observed on Monday, September 2, 2024, with the University closed and no classes. Classes resume on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.
6. Wellness Day is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17, 2024, with no classes. Classes resume on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.
7. The schedule for the 2025 Spring and Summer terms will be published, and the Shopping Cart will open in October (a specific date will be announced).
8. NCSU Fall Break 2024 is observed from October 14 to October 15, 2024, with no classes on those days. Classes resume on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, after Fall Break.
9. The Drop/Revision Deadline is on Thursday, October 17, 2024.
10. Enrollment for the Spring 2025 term begins in October (specific date to be announced).
11. NCSU Thanksgiving Break 2024 is observed from November 27 to 29, 2024. There are no classes, and the University is closed on Thursday and Friday. Classes resume on Monday, December 2, 2024, after the Thanksgiving Holiday.
12. The last week of the semester is from November 25 to December 3, 2024.
13. The last day of classes for the Fall semester is Tuesday, December 3, 2024.
14. Wednesday, December 4, 2024, is designated as Reading Day.
15. Final Examinations take place from December 5 to 11, 2024.
16. NCSU Winter Break 2024 is from Thursday, December 12, 2024, to Sunday, January 5, 2025.
17. Fall grades are due by 5 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2024.
18. Fall Commencement Exercises are scheduled for Saturday, December 14, 2024.

NCSU Academic Calendar Spring 2025

NCSU Spring 2025 starts on Monday, January 6, 2025 for both regular sessions and 8-Week Session-First sessions. 8-Week Session-Second Session classes start on Thursday, February 27, 2025.

Below are other important dates and deadlines on the NCSU Academic calendar for Spring 2025 for regular sessions, 8-Week Session-First Session, and 8-Week Session-Second Session.

1. Classes for the Spring semester begin on Monday, January 6, 2025.
2. The deadline to add a course without permission is Friday, January 10, 2025.
3. Census Date/Official Enrollment Date is Friday, January 17, 2025.
4. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is observed on Monday, January 20, 2025, with the University closed and no classes. Classes resume on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.
5. Wellness Day is scheduled for Tuesday, February 11, 2025, with no classes. Classes resume on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
6. According to the NCSU academic calendar 2024-2025, the drop/revision deadline is Monday, March 3, 2025.
7. The schedule for the 2025 Fall term will be published, and the Shopping Cart will open on Wednesday, March 5, 2025.
8. NCSU Spring Break 2025 is from March 10 to 14, 2025. Classes resume on Monday, March 17, 2025, after Spring Break.
9. Enrollment for the Fall 2025 term begins in March (specific date to be announced).
10. The last week of the semester is from April 16 to 22, 2025.
11. The last day of classes for the Spring semester is Tuesday, April 22, 2025.

Last Day To Add Without Permission

Last day to add a course without permission of instructor. MyPack Portal closes for adds at 11:59 p.m. (After this day, contact the instructor in order to add a class.)

Census Date

Census Date/Official Enrollment Date: Last day to add a course with permission of instructor. Last day for tuition refunds due to dropping a course or changing from credit to audit. The last day for undergraduate students to drop below 12 hours. Last day for ALL students to drop a course without a W grade.

Please note: For undergraduate students taking classes in the second 8-week session of the semester, the last day to drop below 12 hours is NOT the same as Census Date. For all students taking classes in the second 8-week session of the semester, the last day to drop a course without a W grade is NOT the same as the Census Date. Drop/Revision Deadline

All schedule revisions made after this date will require a Schedule Revision form for processing. The last day to change to credit only at ALL levels.

Note: Students enrolled in mini-courses should consult the Eight-Week Calendar above regarding drop deadlines.

Last Week of Semester

Lab tests, semester project reports, and presentations are permissible during the final week of classes. Papers and homework may have a due date during the final week of classes only if scheduled in the syllabus. 

However, in order for students to prepare for final examinations, faculty members may not assign other tests, quizzes, or additional papers during the final week of classes. 

Assignments should not have a due date during the final exam period unless the assignment constitutes a part of the final exam. Exceptions to this policy must be approved in advance by the department head and the dean of the college involved. Students should contact the appropriate instructor or department head if they believe an assignment is not in compliance with this regulation.

Term Withdrawal Deadline

The last day to submit a withdrawal request for the term. Any requests after this date are considered retroactive and require the same conditions as a term withdrawal, but must also be initiated by the Counseling Center. Visit the NC State calendar page for more on NCSU Academic Calendar.
